Getting started
Creating your first brand
What to put in each field, and why the positioning paragraph matters most.
A brand is the context ThreadMention uses to judge each thread and to write drafts that sound like you. Go to Brands and choose Add your brand.
- Name (required): the name as people would write it in a comment, for example "Acme Notes".
- Name variations (optional): other ways people write it, separated by commas. For example "Acme, AcmeNotes, acmenotes.com".
- Positioning: 2 to 4 sentences about what you sell, who it's for, and when it is (and isn't) the right choice. This is the most important field. ThreadMention uses it to decide whether a thread is a fit, so a vague paragraph leads to vague verdicts.
- Never say (optional): words or claims drafts must avoid, separated by commas. Hype words ("revolutionary", "game-changing") and features you don't offer are good candidates.
A good positioning paragraph
"Acme Notes is a meeting-notes app for small remote teams. It records, transcribes and summarises calls. Best for teams under 50 who meet on Zoom or Google Meet. Not built for enterprise compliance needs."
It names the product, the audience, the best fit and a limit. The limit matters: it helps ThreadMention recommend skip when a thread is about something you don't do well, and it makes drafts sound balanced rather than salesy.
You can edit your brand at any time. See Updating brand context.
